Lower Broughton Rd, late 1950s. Image sent by Cheryl Dunne, showing Cheryl(right) and friend Susan (left), with Cheryl’s mother Olive(centre), outside her dad’s shop. His name was James Hedley Bacon, also known as “Hedley.” Susan and brother Eric lived just around the corner  on Heath Street, near where the children used to play on the crofts at the corner and side of the shop, where they could see their house. Cheryl started going out with Eric when she was 17 and they got married the following year. It is their 40th wedding anniversary in July 2012.
